Important Points SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) During the Inspection of RCC NP4 Pipes: -    Image-Hydro Test (Photo Credit: Ritesh Raj) (1.) Firstly, approved QAP will be checked.  (2.) ID marks should be marked on the inner and outer sides of pipes.  Image-ID Mark (Photo Credit: Ritesh Raj)  (3.) To check the inner and outer diameter of pipes.   (4.) Smooth finishing and before dispatch of RCC pipes cement slurry or grouting where required.   (5.) Load test is required for RCC pipes as per IS codes. It is different for each dia, of RCC pipes.  Image-Plate Load Test (Photo Credit: Ritesh Raj)   (6.) Concrete mix design checked and in which cement content, cement brand, and water-cement ratio should be checked.  (7.) The straightness test to be checked of RCC pipes through the straightness rods to collinear visible.   (8.) As per requirement 2% of hydro tests are to be checked as IS:458 of the total ordered quantity.  Image-Hydro Test (Pressure Release) (Photo Credit: Ritesh Raj)

Aggregate Impact Value Test

Aggregate Impact Value is an important test of aggregate. Before starting any mix design and making concrete, we will done aggregate impact value test. From this test we know about the toughness of an aggregate. After apply sudden impact on aggregate, then we got the impact value of an aggregate.

Important Terms:-

(i) Weight of Impact value testing machine=45 to 60 kg.

(ii) Cylindrical Steel cup, Dia.=75 mm, Depth=50 mm

(iii) Testing cup, Dia.=102mm, Depth=50 mm

(iv) Fall(means height)=380+-5mm

(v) Used 12.5 mm and 10 mm-GI Sieves and another 2.36 mm-Brass Sieves

Test Procedures:-

(i) Taken some sample of aggregate and used 12.5 mm sieve for passing and 10 mm for retaining.(Note-Sieving will always in circular motion.)

(ii) Firstly passing materials of aggregate from 12.5 mm IS sieve and then 10 mm IS Sieve is used. The material which will retained on 10 mm sieve will kept in another pan.

(iii) Retained weight of material will kept in oven at 1100C (1000C to 1100C) for 4 hours.

(iv) After 4 hours sample is removed from oven and make cold in atmosphere.

(v) Now, the steel cup is kept on weight balance and it will tier.

(vi) Steel cylinder is filled through aggregate, which was taken from oven. It will filled in 3 layers and each layer temped at 25 times.

(vii) Now, weight of cylinder=357.7 gm. and it will transferred in testing cup and also it will temped in a single layer at 25 times.

(viii) Tighting the both ends of testing cup and will applying 15 blows and also consider it will applying continuous and after 15 blows it will lock at upper portion.

(ix) Loose the screw and taken sample.

(x) Now sieve the taken sample through 2.36 mm brass sieve and at bottom of 2.36 mm sieve we will apply a pan/lid and then start sieving in a circular motion.

(xi) Now, a pan is kept at weight balance and tier it. The passing material weight will taken. Weight comes=25.3 gm

Format (Sample):-

A=Weight of oven dried sample

   =357.7 gm

B=Weight of fraction passing

   =25.3 gm (2.36 mm sieve)

Aggregate Impact Value=B/A * 100

                                       =25.3/357.7 *100

                                       =7.07 %

Note:-

As per 383:2016, Page No.-4, as an alternative to 5.4.1, the aggregate impact value may be determined in accordance with the method specified in accordance with the method specified in IS 2386(Part-4).The aggregate impact value shall not exceed the following values:-

(a.) For aggregates, to be used in concrete for wearing surfaces, (Such as runways, roads, pavements, tunnel lining carrying water, spillways and stilling basins)=30 %

(b.) For aggregates to be used in concrete other than for wearing surfaces=45 %.
