Important Points SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) During the Inspection of RCC NP4 Pipes: -    Image-Hydro Test (Photo Credit: Ritesh Raj) (1.) Firstly, approved QAP will be checked.  (2.) ID marks should be marked on the inner and outer sides of pipes.  Image-ID Mark (Photo Credit: Ritesh Raj)  (3.) To check the inner and outer diameter of pipes.   (4.) Smooth finishing and before dispatch of RCC pipes cement slurry or grouting where required.   (5.) Load test is required for RCC pipes as per IS codes. It is different for each dia, of RCC pipes.  Image-Plate Load Test (Photo Credit: Ritesh Raj)   (6.) Concrete mix design checked and in which cement content, cement brand, and water-cement ratio should be checked.  (7.) The straightness test to be checked of RCC pipes through the straightness rods to collinear visible.   (8.) As per requirement 2% of hydro tests are to be checked as IS:458 of the total ordered quantity.  Image-Hydro Test (Pressure Release) (Photo Credit: Ritesh Raj)

Consistency Test of Cement

Normal Consistency- It is defined as the percentage of water by weight of cement which produces a consistency which permits a plunger of 10 mm diameter to percentage up to a depth of 5 mm to 7 mm above the bottom of vicat's mould.

Important Terms:-

(i) Diameter of Plunger=10 mm

(ii) Firstly, 25% weight of water is used which will mix with cement. Then used 26%, 27% and more.

(iii) Repeat this procedure till reading not comes 5 mm to 7 mm.

(iv) Entire mixing and filling of the mould including testing should be completed within 3 to 5 minutes.

Test Procedure:-

(i) Take 400 gm of cement sample.

(ii) 25% water i.e. 400X25/100=100 gm of water is added and mix properly.

(iii) After mixing it is kept in mould and also kept on the vicat apparatus surface.

(iv) 10 mm diameter needle will just touch on the surface of the mould and then freely fall. Suppose reading comes=10 mm. So, it will required to repeat the test till result will not comes in the range of 5mm to 7 mm.

(v)  Now increase the % of water. So, taken 26% (104 gm) of water and again filled in mould and again test procedure will repeat. If reading will comes=7 mm

(vi) Normal Consistency=Wt. of water/Wt. of cement X 100

                                       = 104/100 X 100

                                       = 26 %
