Description of Safety Measures At Construction Site




There have been many accidents in the world during construction and operation, which completely shocked the heart of the people and shaken the whole work. An example of this is the gas tragedy of Bhopal on 2 December 1984.

Several thousand people died due to the leakage of methyl isocynite gas from the factory. After this accident, a lot of research was done about India Safety. Accident will never occurs tell before. So, be safe during work. A one mistake can take life of many people.

Some part of every project started to be kept for safety. By running a variety of programs to the working people, by giving them PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), its importance was explained. An attempt was made to spread awareness in them, which gave a boost to safety measures.

We should follow safety well at the workplace going to our workplace. Because you are yourself only for yourself, but you are the whole world for your family.


When the road accidents started happening more and more, more emphasis was laid on following the rules of traffic. The bags were fitted with seat belts and airbags in the four Wheeler.

Many such incidents are heard on construction sites, which is very sad to hear. Many rules were made to prevent this, which we need to follow every time at work places. Following are some of those rules: -

(1.) Daily toolbox talk/PEP talk or meeting will organize before starting the work.

(2.) Safety engineer must visit the site before starting the work and he will must ensure everything           as per norms.

(3.) Site engineer take work permit from safety engineer  if any critical works or new works to be execute at site beyond the normal workings hrs also.

(4.)  Before start any new work, Safety  work methodology to be prepared and signed by the project head  during execution at site.

(5.) Sufficient Entry, Exist and approach of the workplace will also determined. and                    Emergency plan to be display at work place where more people visible.

(6.) First Aid box and emergency vehicles  must  be available at site, like ambulance, van etc.

(7.) Without PPE workers wont allowed to entire the work place for any minor excuse also.

(8.) Make a safe working environment condition.Daily half an hour before closing of site House-            keeping  practice to be implement at site.

(9.) Once in three months all the loading and unloading equipment to be fitness by third party.

(10.) All employee and worker to be medical checkup once in three months.

(11.) Heavy equipment operators visible and hearing checkup to be done periodically.

(12.) All moving equipment the reverse horn functioning to be checked. and same driver licences to           be checked with fitness before assigning on job.

(13.) For track mounted equipment the chain joints and bearing drum to be periodically check                     before assigning on job.

(14.)Training program and mock drill will organize timely from trained staff.

(15.) To provide near the site drinking water facility, workers rest room and labour camp will be                  sanitized timely. Daily House keeping register to be maintain at work place.

(16.) Kept a suggestion box, where each one who is able to give the suggestions.


(18.) Do not involve yourself in others task.

Many hazardous work deep excavation, working at height, work at very polluted and noise areas they affects the construction safety.


Some potential hazards, that workers face daily:-

(a.) Scaffolding collapse due to lack of support

(b.)Trench collapse due to lack of shoring arrangements

(c.) Fall from height, due to fall arrester  was not provided.

(d.)Repeated accidents was occurs due to no any solid action is taken

(e.)Insufficient nos. of PPES is available at work place.



Improvement of Safety skills at site:-

(1.) Provide safety training of workers.

(2.)Safery trainng will update for new employee

(3.) Safety training will provide for new machinery items.

(4.) All workers defenitely know about measures of safety

(5.) All workers will have PPEs.

(6.) Good practices will shown in toolbox meetings.

(7.) Hazard identification will must analyse.

(8.) Near miss will must determined for safe work.

(9.) Equipment and materials will handled safely.

(10.) Materials will kept properly.

(11.) Ensure electrical safety at construction site.



Safety is important for all workers at site to prevent the death and injury.
